1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

OK, are you ready? Please give me your best five minutes on:::
Stretch…
Stretch. That's the word for this week. Stretch. After dancing with my kids yesterday with wii Dance Party I should say stretch is what I need to do to get these old bones movin' and shakin' today.
But that's not what God is doing in me. He's stretching me. From the inside. Taking me outside my comfort zone. Giving me opportunities to reconnect with the intimate part of me who loved to write many years ago, and move and feel and grow. The teenage girl who wrote every little detail down in her journal has turned into a 50-year-old woman who has found new joy amidst the messiness of life.
The biggest stretch I have ever made in my life was becoming the adoptive mom of three children. Blending these new lives into the dailiness of our already busy life. Discovering wounds and hurts from our new children that did not heal overnight or in the next year or years. Healing will be the process God uses to mold and remake the broken hearts I am given the privilege of mothering every day.
Now God is turning my heart to new horizons. Telling me to watch where He is working and join Him there. Giving me opportunities to tell my story through words that fumble and tumble from my keyboard. Words that leap from my heart in the wee hours of the morning to become something only God can redeem.
Stretching me. I feel it in my bones.
Ah yes... God is so good at stretching us to use us for His purposes! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, He is! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteFirst of all, I love your picture and all the red! Beautiful! And second, thanks for capturing the courage required by stretching. You paint an amazing picture.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment. As far as the courage goes, my adopted kiddos are the ones with the courage to face life and heal. We're just the facilitators. Have a blessed day!
DeleteSo love this! How you have shared that He doesn't just stretch us in one area but many. All for the purpose of using us. Thanks so much for sharing! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy! God does indeed stretch us and molds us again and again. What a blessing!
DeleteKeep stretching and seeking HIM. So glad you are writing!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I've rediscovered my love of writing and it has been a gift. Have a blessed day!
DeleteI love this.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise, for the encouragement. Have a wonderful day!
DeleteI so enjoyed . . . I enjoy writing too - but use to a lot more as a little girl! And, my "stretch" story is about a foster child. I was also adopted. How God stretches and intertwines our stories is sure a blessing!
