Ahhh, the day a boy turns into a man. His first shave. But what do I know about it? Absolutely nothing. M has been growing facial hair for some time now and we resisted taking the plunge and lettting him shave.
(Part of it was that his older brother didn't shave until he was probably 15. Joshua had little facial hair but has made up for it at the age of 19 with a partiality to the "scruffy" face. Ugh. I miss my clean shaven sweet boy face. He did finally cut his hair recently, to which I promptly got on my knees and thanked God. Not really, but I was truly that grateful.)
I digress. Realizing that each child is unique and needs to be parented with insight and
empathy, we decided to give M a razor on his 13th birthday. There are some things that we believe should have an age limit applied but other activities depend on the maturity and development of the child. Shaving was one of those decisions. M needs to shave at 13 for self esteem and confidence as well as necessity. So his dad gave him step by step instructions.
Today, clean shaven with sparkly eyes.
Life is good.
So cool...father and son. I guess that is what I have to look forward to pretty soon:-)
