#10 Songs and the memories they evoke:
One Hand, One Heart, West Side Story: my most favorite role in my years in theatre was Maria, and Tim and I sang this song at our wedding.
How He Loves by David Crowder: sung byJ for his sister Rachel's wedding. What a precious time.
Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone by Chris Tomlin: this song combines my love for older hymns with my passion for contemporary worship music. It always moves me to tears.
How Great Thou Art: This was my dad's favorite hymn and he asked (or rather told) me many years before his death that he wanted me to sing it at his funeral. And I did.
I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman: Tim and I have sung this for years at church services and weddings. It was a joyful experience to hear it sung back to us by our two oldest children.
I Love You song: for being a musician I can never think of children's songs to sing when I'm rocking babies. So I always sing this little tune and substitute the child's name. I can get most any baby to sleep with a rocking chair and this song! (Lyrics are: I love you ___, oh yes I do. I love you _____, I will be true. When you're not with me, I'm blue. Oh_____, I love you),
It Is Well, version by Todd Fields: a few weeks before my mother died I heard this version from our church band and fell in love with it. The chorus lyrics are: "It is well. It is well. Through the storm I am held. It is well. It is well with my soul. It is well. It is well. God has won. Christ prevailed. It is well. It is well with my soul." I later sang this at my mother's funeral.
Majesty and Glory: this is an old church choral anthem but it lives up to its name.
Sleep Sound in Jesus by Michael Card: both my bio kids and later the two younger adopted ones listened to this tape as their lullaby songs at night. Hearing it takes me back to rocking my little ones in the middle of the night.
Point of Grace Christmas Album: my family all agrees that if we were in a coma this would be the song to play to revive us! It is part of our much loved Thanksgiving Day tradition of decorating the Christmas tree together.
And last but not least, my precious husband's 15th anniversary song for me. I had begged him for years to write me a song. Lest you think he walks on water (especially after this event) here are the lyrics:

(And yes, he did write me a "real" song that year!)
That's so cute about the "I love you" song. I didn't have many lullabies on the tip of my tongue, either. My babies heard "Take good care of my baby." ... "and if you should discover, that s/he just wants his/her mother, just send my baby back home to me" :-)
